The Connecting Step

Transload

The step between container freight and domestic distribution — a container arrives, gets broken down, and the freight inside continues on LTL, truckload, intermodal or last-mile. Coordinated through the platform; performed by licensed warehouse and trucking partners.

Transload is not a sixth mode alongside Drayage, LTL, Truckload, Intermodal and Last Mile — it is the node where container freight converts into one of them. See it framed inside the full container-to-delivery flow on the homepage.

How it works

01

Container arrival

Container is drayed to a warehouse or CFS for breakdown.

02

Break down & sort

Freight is unloaded, sorted, re-labeled or re-palletized as needed.

03

Route onward

Each portion is booked onto LTL, truckload, intermodal or last-mile as its own shipment.

Plan the handoff before the container arrives

Transload works best when the next move is defined before the container reaches the warehouse or CFS. The key question is not only where the container will be unloaded, but how the freight inside will leave.

  1. How the freight should be separated
  2. Whether it needs relabeling or repalletizing
  3. How long it may need to remain at the facility
  4. Which portions will continue by LTL, truckload, intermodal or local delivery
  5. Which consignee, destination and appointment belong to each outbound shipment
ShipMay coordinates the handoff between the container move and the domestic shipments that follow. Warehouse services are performed by qualified service providers.
